August 2019 We Care Wednesday

We had a different nonprofit in mind for August 2019 but with the horrific domestic terrorist attacks in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio (by the time we publish this post who knows which city will be mourning a mass shooting) we decided that fundraising for Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence was imperative. “Nearly 6 million mayors, moms, cops, teachers, survivors, gun owners, students and everyday Americans have come together to make their own communities safer. Together, we are fighting for the changes that we know will save lives.”...

2019 July We Care Wednesday: RAICES Texas

It has been a heartbreaking time for all of us at gather here. With images of families separated at our borders and a humanitarian crisis unfolding before us there are days when we feel like there's no bottom to this cruelty. This We Care Wednesday we would like to do what we can to help those families at the southern border. Founded in 1986 as the Refugee Aid Project by community activists in South Texas, RAICES has grown to be the largest immigration legal services provider in Texas. 2019 May We Care Wednesday: Cambridge Family and Children's Services

Founded in 1873 by local businessman James Huntington, Cambridge Family and Children's Services was established as an orphanage called The Avon Home. Huntington’s vision was to help the growing number of homeless youth wandering the streets of 19th century Cambridge. Since its inception, CFCS has grown into a highly regarded non-profit agency that provides intervention to at-risk families; placement services for children and youth through its adoption, intensive foster care and residential programs; and services to children and adults with disabilities and their families. We chose Cambridge Family and Children's Service as this month's recipient because we appreciate the CFCS mission to provide...
