It's been one year since we kicked off our collaboration with The Brattle Theater. In June of 2025 we came together to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show, crafters and diehard Rocky Horror fans. On, Monday, June 8, 2026 we watched Priscilla Queen of the Desert! Kicking off Pride Month with joy and friendship. a 1994 Australian road comedy film written and directed by Stephan Elliott. Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Costume Design, one of only three films set in contemporary times to win!
We love this monthly event which brings people together who love movies and love to make things. There's always new folks as well as regular attendees. We select the films to fit the season, looking for titles that are also familiar enough to not need the lights off. The films capture incredible costumes: Harry's iconic cable knit sweater in 'When Harry Met Sally', Cher's yellow plaid skirt suit in 'Clueless', the over 60 costumes ranging from pastels to dark mourning dresses Kirsten Dunst wore in Sofia Coppola's 'Marie Antoinette'...
The summer will feature more singing and dancing. And in the fall there will be excellent sweaters. We hope you'll find inspiration to make things you want to wear! And make new crafty pals. Do you want to say thanks to the Brattle Theater for sharing space with all of us? 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of The Brattle as a nonprofit cinema! And this summer they'll be replacing the well-worn Brattle seats, improving sightlines throughout the house with a staggered layout. While they are closed for this work, they will also restore the wood floors, replace the carpets and aisle lighting, and complete other needed repairs. Make a donation to help!
