Tana Lawn - Marina Reflection
Returning home to Trinidad, Althea was inspired to create Malvaceae Hibiscus – a large-scale furnishing design with pops of color and bold stripes. Originally created for Liberty in 1958, the floral pattern has been translated into a fashion print for this collection.
This collection celebrates the designs of Althea McNish, showcasing the Trinidadian designer’s unique eye for graphic, multi-layered prints in vividly tropical-infused shades. Hailing from Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to England in the 1950’s and subsequently revolutionized the world of post-war British textile design with her bold and beautiful prints – starting with her very first collection, created as a freelance commission for Liberty Fabrics in 1958. Recreated from Althea’s designs in the Liberty Archive the collection exhibits her vibrant florals and textural patterns in exciting new colorways.
