Have you ever wanted to recreate a quilt you saw and loved but weren't sure how to deconstruct it? Do you have an idea for a quilt but aren't sure how to crunch the numbers in order to make it work? Are you thinking about resizing a pattern or block but aren't sure how to keep the proportions intact? If so, please join us for this thorough examination of the math involved in quilting.
In this class, we'll go over the basics of angles and proportion ratios, and discuss the variables that can affect seam allowances. We'll cover the basic formulas for Half Square Triangles, Half Rectangle Triangles, Flying Geese, and other block units. At the end, we'll discuss any specific projects that you would love to make.
Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: Beginner. But you have successfully taken quilting basics or have equivalent sewing experience.
- We provide: the expertise
- You bring: graph paper, a pen or pencil and to have a quilt or design in mind that you would love to figure out.
- Class length: 2 hours
Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.
