Ready to make your first garment?

Why not start with a pair of these pajama pants? You'll also learn how to take measurements, select the pattern size that works best, cut out the pattern, thread elastic through a waistband and topstitch a hem. The perfect next class for anyone who's completed Sewing Basics, Sewing II, and is ready for the next step. These pants were designed to be unisex so make them for all your friends and family - you're going to want a pair for every day of the week. Optional ribbon/drawstring tie for those looking for a little more skill building - you'll make buttonholes!

Limited to 4 students(16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: Easy intermediate. You know how to thread a machine, sew a straight line and wind a bobbin. You have successfully taken Sewing Basics and Sewing II.
  • We provide: the pattern, the studio space, tools, machines, and expertise.
  • You bring: Fabric you love!  You'll need 2 1/2 to 3 yards of a woven fabric depending on your inseam, 1-2 yards of 1" elastic for the waist, and optional 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 yards of ribbon or drawstring for the waist.
  • NOTE: we suggest not selecting a directional fabric for your first pair of pants. If you aren't sure what this means please ask a craft associate.
  • Don't forget that we offer 15% off supplies for all of our workshops.
  • Class length:  3 hours
Online participants will:
  • Need to pickup supplies prior to the class session.
  • Receive a Zoom invitation link the morning of the workshop.
You may be asked to mask. Thank you for your understanding.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place. 

Class Credits
Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will credit your gather here account.

Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.

Class Materials
All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
