French Seam Pillowcases

With straight seams and two nifty techniques, you'll learn Virginia's favorite technique (the burrito) used for shirt yokes as well as how to sew french seams. Plus relying on the rotary cutter, your cutting mat, and see-thru ruler to cut accurately. And practice accurate seam allowances.

Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: Beginner. You *must* have taken sewing basics or the equivalent. You know how to thread a machine, sew a straight line and wind a bobbin.
  • We provide:  pattern, tools, machines, & plenty of expertise!
  • You bring:  yourself and for ONE pillow case: 3/4 yard for body, 1/4 yard for cuff, 1/8 yard for trim OR 1 1/3 yard of 3/4 - 1" ribbon. We have pre-cut kits (enough for a matching set) available in store!
  • Class length:  2 1/2 hours
Online participants will:
  • Need to pickup supplies prior to the class session.
  • Receive a Zoom invitation link the morning of the workshop.
Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place. 

Class Credits

Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.

Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.

Class Materials

All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
