A versatile hat perfect for rain or shine. Craft this hat out of canvas or oilcloth, line it in something fun, and listen to the compliments come rolling in. This hat will protect your forehead, keep the sun out of your eyes, and for those of us wearing glasses, the raindrops from landing on your lenses.
Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: Adventurous Beginner. You know how to thread a machine, can sew a straight and a curved line, and are comfortable cutting fabric. You have successfully made a tote bag , a zipper box bag (Sewing II), and maybe a grocery bag!
- We provide: The studio space, machines, tools, waxed canvas/oil skin know-how, and expertise.
- You bring: Fabric you love! Recommended fabrics are: Oilskin, Dry Oilskin, Waxed Canvas, Mid-weight cotton canvas, 8 - 13oz denim, 5 - 10oz linen. For lining we'd suggest a voile/lawn, quilting cotton, or barrier lining, thread to match (there's a lot of top stitching on the brim), and a copy of the pattern (available as a PDF from M&M). We offer 15% off all materials purchased for class.
