The Matisse inspired appliqué is a whimsical sewing adventure tailor-made for confident beginner quilters who are ready for new skills. We'll go over the techniques of fusible raw edge appliqué, free motion quilting, and binding, where you'll learn to bring Matisse's vibrant and playful shapes to life in fabric form. From curvy cutouts to bold geometric patterns, your (18 x 24”) quilted wall hanging will be sure to brighten any room!
Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: Confident beginner/Intermediate - you have successfully completed Quilting Basics and Quilting II or equivalent.
- We provide: the pattern (by instructor Laura Glass), expertise, machines, and tools.
- You bring: 1 yard Wonder Under or Heat n Bond (two sided fusible web.), ½ yard background fabric, 4 fat quarters for main colors, 1/2 yard backing fabric. ¼ yard for binding, 20” x 24” batting. Don't forget that we offer 15% off supplies purchased for class.
- Class length: 3 hours
- Need to pickup supplies prior to the class session.
- Receive a Zoom invitation link the morning of the workshop.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place.
Class Credits
Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.
Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.
Class Materials
All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
