UPDATE 4/3/20: On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the Baker-Polito Administration extended the Stay-At-Home Advisory through May 4, 2020. What this means for you and gather here: gather here is available 24/7 ONLINE ONLY. You may not "drop by", "swing by", "walk over", "discreetly stand next to the tree" for the health and safety of the limited team fulfilling online orders. Unfortunately this means we can no longer accept your machines for service or rent you a sewing machine.
We continue to offer FREE SHIPPING for orders over $50 anywhere in the Continental United States. As well as FREE CAMBERVILLE DELIVERY for orders over $25 anywhere in Cambridge/Somerville. Orders may take up to 3 business days to pick, pack, and ship. We are fulfilling them in the order they are received and kindly ask that you please be patient.
Are you missing workshops? Join us for online, in-person workshops. Check out the class calendar and join a gather here instructor for the patient, in-depth workshops that are the cornerstone of our business.
Questions about fabric face masks? Read our detailed blog post!
UPDATE 3/30/20: Per the Governor's Stay at Home advisory, you cannot come by to pick up an order/a machine. You cannot drop off anything inside the store. We encourage you to visit us 24/7 ONLINE and we'll process your purchase in the order it is received. We kindly ask that you please be patient about the time it takes for your order to ship. We are taking extreme precautions in our brick and mortar turned "shipping warehouse" with a limited team fulfilling orders and handling correspondence. The well-being of our customers and staff is and will always be our top priority.
We wish we could tell you when our store will re-open to the public. While we have lots of skills we don't have the ability to tell the future. We continue to take things one day at a time.
UPDATE 3/16/20: We have decided after many discussions that gather here will be closed to the public starting at 7 PM on Monday, March 16, 2020. You can continue to shop online. We will be coming in to pack orders, receive product, and record online content between 12 and 6 PM throughout the week so don't be alarmed if you walk by and see a handful of us puttering about.
We are postponing March workshops - any workshops that we can offer online we'll email those who previously registered a link to join us. We know during this time of uncertainty it might be comforting to sit with other makers for a couple of hours and learn how to knit/crochet/embroider/stitch. We'll be offering refunds/class credits/store credits for March workshops - you'll receive an email from Lisa (our awesome customer service associate) in the coming hours. All social gatherings at the store have been cancelled - we're looking at ways to offer this online as well so stay tuned.
We typically launch classes on the 2nd to last Monday of the month. We will NOT be launching April workshops until we have a better understanding of the situation here in Massachusetts. We'll send out a newsletter about any online learning opportunities so if you haven't signed up you totally should. We will be launching Kids Summer Camp on March 23, 2020 - we do hope that we are up and running by then.
UPDATE on 3/20: re: Fabric Face Masks! We made a video tutorial you can watch HERE. You can find the written tutorial HERE. Are you a healthcare provider looking for masks please fill out the request form.
Want to drop off your completed mask? We have a drop box available from 12-6 PM. Please place your completed mask in a ziploc (or equivalent) bag. Thank you for your assistance!
Past statements below:
gather here takes the health and safety of our team, instructors, and guests seriously. We are closely monitoring the recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Cambridge Public Health Department in responding to the growing concern around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
On February 22, 2020, we increased the cleaning and disinfection of surfaces throughout the store and studios, provided hand sanitizer and wipes for our team and visitor use throughout 1343 Cambridge Street, and communicated best practices to craft associates and instructors. You'll notice sanitizer at our registers, the ball winder and swift, and in every studio. And you can rest assured that our bathrooms are stocked with soap, hot water, and are being wiped down regularly.
For those of you concerned about our team: gather here provides paid sick leave for full and part-time craft associates and we are encouraging our team to stay at home in the event that they are ill.
Customers who want to avoid public areas can order online and we are happy to ship your order. We are offering free shipping anywhere in the continental US and free local delivery for any orders to those living in Cambridge and Somerville. We have relaxed our cancellation policy on workshops (instead of our usual 72 hours we ask for 24 hours notice to receive a class credit) and will offer class credit for anyone who needs to self-quarantine regardless of when they are diagnosed.
We will continue to evaluate the ever-changing situation. At this time operating hours and planned programming are continuing as usual. Any updates will be shared on our website and social media. We thank all of you for your support and hope that we can all weather this storm safely.
