Sewing Basics

Sewing Basics

Learn to Sew & Make a Tote Bag!

Interested in learning how to sew but not ready to make a huge commitment?  This is the class for you.  You’ll learn the basics like how to use a sewing machine (threading, back stitching, stitch length) as well as read a pattern, cut fabric, and put it all together.  Honestly, this will blow you away and you’ll leave with skills necessary to tackle more difficult projects. (But we recommend that you sew an army of tote bags just to build up your confidence!)

Limited to 5 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: beginner (really, you've never touched a sewing machine or the last time you touched a sewing machine you were in braces
  • We provide:  everything – fabric, machine, tools, pattern and you finish this project in class!
  • You bring:  yourself
  • Class length: 2 1/2 hours

Perfect to learn how to use a sewing machine

Lisa was a great teacher! I’d done some sewing years ago but had forgotten everything about using a sewing machine so this class was great to get the basics back.

A convivial workshop with a delightful and surprising result.

Although I'd have wanted more instructions on the fabulous handout, I loved the class.
Lisa's clarity, pleasure to work with, and her availability for each of us.
The atmosphere was convivial.
And the bag was a delightful and surprising accomplishment.
I appreciated how affordable the class was.
I hope I will have the luck to take others.

Super fun!

This was a great experience and great first intro to sewing! Grace was super nice, and made all of the instructions very clear. I think it was a great value for the price and I would definitely take another class here.
