Virginia wants to share her deep love of the sweatsuit and working with sergers so we're offering this workshop to help you create your own Sweat Set. Hone your serger sewing skills to create the Sweet Pea sweats!
We suggest that you trace your pattern in advance if you are worried about finishing this project over three sessions. We’ll focus on cutting out the entire set and putting together our shorts/pants in our first session. In the next session we'll make our sweatshirt and then work on all the finishing!
Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: Intermediate. You are way beyond pj pants and are comfortable using a sewing machine. You have plenty of handmade clothing you are proud of. You have taken serger basics or the equivalent.
- We provide: studio space, tools, machines, serger thread, and expertise.
- You bring: A copy of the patterns (you'll need the sweatshirt AND the sweatpants), fabric you love (non-stretch knit are best), 1 1/2-2” (5 cm) elastic for waistband, 1/2-3/4” (2 cm) elastic for ankles (not needed if you are making shorts!), and a heavyweight knit with at least 20% stretch and high recover (a return to its original width after being stretched) or ribbing knit for waistband, neckband, and cuffs of sweatshirt.
- Class length: 2.5 hours each session for a total of 7 hours
Sessions run Sunday, October 1, 8, and 15 at 3 PM.
Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place.
Class Credits
Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.
