We are proud to share that our October recipient is Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK). ATASK is celebrating over thirty years of empowering Asian survivors of domestic violence and abuse. Founded in 1992 to address the gaps in services for Asian domestic violence survivors statewide, ATASK has operated New England’s only multilingual emergency shelter, advocacy services, outreach, and education programs for battered Asian adults and their children. ATASK’s mission is to empower Asian survivors of domestic violence and abuse to rebuild their lives. Our work bridges language and cultural gaps for Asian communities and advocates for social change.
As an AANHPI+ owned small business that cares deeply for the community, it was an honor to be asked to help ATASK fundraise for their 30th anniversary gala by making an auction donation. Knowing that our We Care Wednesday efforts can translate to a much larger donation and that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we opted to not only donate a workshop to the gala but also feature ATASK in our monthly effort to support various programs and non-profits doing essential work in the community.
With over forty distinct Asian languages and cultures represented in the Greater Boston and Lowell areas, linguistically and culturally accessible resources are vital to ATASK’s ability to provide outreach, education, prevention, and direct services to the many families in need in Asian communities. Their advocates – all of whom are bilingual Asians – deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate care that best addresses the needs of clients.
Are you a bilingual Asian looking for volunteer opportunities? ATASK has many ways for you to get involved.
They have a Shelter Wishlist! From children’s items to toiletries, they update their wishlist regularly.
And as ALWAYS, donate DIRECTLY! Your donation to ATASK provides linguistically and culturally accessible resources that are critical in providing services to the many domestic violence survivors and families in need. It also supports outreach, education and prevention programs.
