October 2021 We Care Wednesday

For October we will be fundraising for Project Bread. Project Bread envisions a Massachusetts where hunger is permanently solved.

They connect people and communities in Massachusetts to reliable sources of food while advocating for policies that make food more accessible—so that no one goes hungry. Did you know that food insecurity doubled during the pandemic? Project Bread provides resources to understanding food insecurity in Massachusetts as well as ways you can be a hunger advocate.

Project Bread works with legislators to craft policy solutions to strengthen critical nutrition programs while engaging with partners to address the underlying factors contributing to hunger. Their advocacy is driven by the real-time challenges of people experiencing food insecurity, so they can permanently break the cycle of hunger. As always, we encourage you to give directly and perhaps set up a monthly contribution. Non-profits can better plan when they have financial stability.

UPDATE: We donated $700 to Project Bread and it just happened to be during a donation match! So yay - that's amazing!

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $44,500 to a variety of nonprofits doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to Girls Rock Boston to Movement Voter Project and Found In Translation. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
