Trans Resistance was formed in June 2020 by a collective of trans and queer activists in the Boston area who built upon years of contention with the Boston Pride board for being trans-exclusionary in their process, vision, and work and failing to equitably represent the magical TQBIPOC community in Boston.
Throughout the year Trans Resistance creates spaces, events and experiences that uplift the Trans Queer Black Indigenous People Of Color community. They work in collaboration with other social justice networks in order to address the pressing, urgent, and emergent needs of marginalized communities across Massachusetts.
Trans Resistance is entirely grassroots funded, and rely on individual and organizational donations to fund their annual events.
- The TRANS JOY FUND supports their Annual March and Festival, including applying for city permitting, compensating artists, renting a mobile stage, and more.
- The TRANS COMMUNITY FUND is used to support and sponsor other organizations doing needed work in our city.
- The TRANS LEADERSHIP FUND is a dream fund–being saved to compensate a trans-identifying president of color in our future.
DONATE directly to Trans Resistance to support their work.
*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $72,918 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Movement Voter Project and Found In Translation. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
