There are less than 100 days until the election and like many people we are worried. Excited at the prospect of our first woman of color president but also never getting over 2016. So what can we do? No hand wringing. No waiting on the sidelines. Only actively getting it done. For us this means supporting the Movement Voter Project with our whole self. We've been there - "rage-giving" when a headline crosses our news feed but we have seen the benefits when we give in a more strategic, effective, streamlined way for maximum impact. 2020 is a great example as are the non-presidential election years where we saw change truly happen in Georgia, Minnesota, and Michigan.
The time to organize and get involved is NOW (sure, it was also months ago but we the best time to start anything is NOW). Look for virtual and in-person Craft Nite Events this month and in the future. And like we always say, get involved! Just because we are located in Cambridge, Massachusetts doesn't mean we can't help elsewhere. And it doesn't mean you can't either. Give directly to those who are already doing essential work. And from today until November 5, 2024, purchase a copy of our "RESIST" embroidery pattern (designed for last year's Abortion Access Front Craftivism fundraiser) and the proceeds will fund the Movement Voter Project!
*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $85,215 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Abortion Access Front and Material Aid and Advocacy. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
