Our March 1, 2023 newsletter brought in some great suggestions for this year's We Care Wednesday recipients. Many thanks to Joy, a gather here workshop participant, for reaching out to tell us about Lakota YouthStay, an enriched homestay program with Native youth from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and Eastern Massachusetts host families engaging in a variety of shared activities of interest over the course of 8 days in July. The mission of Lakota YouthStay is to build authentic, mutually rewarding and sustainable friendships between Native and non-Native people with the goal of inspiring hope and creating cultural understanding and awareness.
We encourage you to check out volunteer opportunities at Pine Ridge through Re-Member.

And of course, consider donating directly.
*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $72,918 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Movement Voter Project and Found In Translation. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
