A Tribute to Allie Warmuth

A Tribute to Allie Warmuth

photo above from Alastair Post-Quinn's blog, fallingblox, featuring a new doubleknit cowl pattern from his soon to be released new book. Allison had modeled some of Alasdair's new designs the weekend before the tragic accident.

As many of you know, a member of our community was tragically killed in an accident just a few weeks ago near Boston Common. To honor Allison Warmuth, Mara Smith and Dawn Cowen are planning to construct a knitted adornment for the fence by the collection of flowers and other items left for her by Boston Public Garden.

If you are interested, we’d love to have you to join the project!

Details:

-Use yarn to make a 8x8” square (or multiple 8x8” squares). Knit, crochet, whatever you like. Perhaps you want to use a color or personalize it in some way to make it meaningful for you. It’s freestyle, so go with whatever works.

-We will aim to round up all of the squares by the end of the day May 19th (conveniently a GH makers night). Then we will quickly stitch the squares together and ideally install it on Sunday May 22 (taking more than a few photos).

Let us know if you’re in!

You can leave your square(s) with the gather here front desk prior to the 19th, hand over squares to Mara on May 19th at GH or if you prefer, mail them to:

Many thanks to Mara and Dawn for organizing this memorial. We are grateful to have known Allie and for this very special community.
