Foundation Paper Piecing is a great skill to add to your quilting toolkit! Learn the basics of this technique with this 5 point star design. You’ll have potholder that’s the star of your kitchen!

Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: Confident Beginner - you have successfully completed Quilting Basics. You know how to thread a machine, can sew a straight(ish) line, and are comfortable using a rotary cutter.
  • We provide:  the pattern (by Laura!), tools, batting, machines, and expertise
  • You bring: 2 FQs for star and background colors, 1 FQ for backing, 1 FQ for binding. Don't forget that we offer 15% off all supplies for any of our workshops.
  • Class length: 3 hours

Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.
*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place. 

Class Credits

Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.

Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.

Class Materials

All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
