Exploring Indigo Dye
From creating an indigo vat to making different patterns through clamp and pole resist techniques, you'll learn the art of shibori and beauty of indigo. Students will learn a range of shibori dye resist processes in this hands-on, creative workshop, including tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) shibori methods. There will be prepared dye vats but Lisa will also demonstrate dye vat preparation so you can continue experimenting at home.
Limited to 6 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: you are a beginner who is enthusiastic about fiber.
- We provide: the expertise! Indigo, clamps, poles, gloves, and buckets. Three prepared for dye cotton napkins.
- You bring: yourself! This workshop can be messy so please wear clothing and footwear that you are comfortable getting dyed. Aprons are awesome - as are hair ties. Don't forget that we offer 15% off all supplies for any of our classes.
