Indulge in the cozy charm of handknit coasters with the Coasting Collection. Imagine the warmth and joy these felted coasters will bring to your home or as thoughtful gifts for loved ones.

The Coasting pattern captures the joy of Woven Knitting. Learn this innovative technique where different designs magically emerge as you repeat the same pattern! Knit four or more coasters simultaneously. When they’re off your needles, felt them & then we'll steek!

Limited to 5 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level:  Confident Beginner/Intermediate. You can cast on, knit, purl and bind off! You've taken knitting basics and circular knitting. This is not the first time you've knit in the round.
  • We provide:  moral support, expertise, double knitting tips, and great company. Plus we're happy to felt your coasters between sessions!
  • You bring:  A copy of Mary W Martin's Coasting Collection pattern, 2 colours of DK/Worsted weight non-superwash yarn that felts well (we recommend Universal Worsted or BS Woolstok). You'll need approximately 80 yd/ 73 m of each color to knit 4 coasters. US 7 circular needles; 20-24 in/ 50-60 cm needle. Finished Size of each coaster: 4.5 in square. We offer 15% off supplies purchased for any of our classes.
  • Class length:  2 1/2 hours each session for a total of 5 hours.

Sessions meet Saturday, June 7 and 21 at 1:30 PM

Online participants will:
  • Need to pickup supplies prior to the class session.
  • Receive a Zoom invitation link the morning of the workshop.
Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.

Last minute cancellations

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place. 

Class Credits

Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.

Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.

Class Materials

All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
