Eco-printing Workshop
Eco-printing Workshop
In this introductory workshop, we will cover the basics of eco-printing - the process of pressing the entire dye plant against the fabric and transferring the color while the plant stays flat. Exploring various techniques such as the Japanese Hapazome: smashing the organics directly into the fabric, directing printing: laying the organic pieces flat and rolling the fabric onto a rod, and blanketing: a resist technique. We will work with tannin rich plants and mordanted fabric to achieve clear, crisp prints. In this 3 hour workshop you will learn the basics of eco-printing including how to prepare your fabric and use local foraged plants and flowers as your dye material.
