Ruth Bader Ginsburg {1933-2020} was born in Brooklyn, NY. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in 1954 and a law degree from Columbia Law School in 1959. Her law career spanned from being a Professor of Law to working with the ACLU. In 1980, she was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. In 1993, she became the second woman, first Jewish woman, to take a seat on the United States Supreme Court. She worked tirelessly for women’s rights and gender equality. She wrote the opinion for the United States vs. Virginia case (1996), ruling that women could not be blocked from admission to the Virginia Military Institute
