Youth Sewing Basics

Youth Sewing Basics

No time for a six week sewing course? Want to learn to use a sewing machine?

Why not start join us for Youth Sewing Basics and make a simple tote bag? You'll learn how to cut fabric, thread a sewing machine, back stitch, and sew on straps. This youth-only workshop takes you through all the steps of making a bag and you'll be ready to tackle other bags afterwards.

Limited to 4 students (ages 9-15).

  • We provide:  materials, pattern, tools, and instruction
  • Kids bring:  themselves and their ideas
  • Class length:  2 hours

*Some Sewing Classes may be scheduled for our downstairs studio. Please contact us if you would prefer not to navigate stairs and we will switch studios.

Last minute cancellations

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any cancellations with less than 72 hours notice. Of course, if you can’t make a class at the last minute you can always send someone in your place. 

Class Credits

Due to the very limited enrollment in our classes and the special nature of our workshops, classes/workshops are non-refundable. However, if you let us know at least 72 hours in advance, we will transfer you to another class of your choosing or credit your gather here account.

Please email us at with any class cancellation requests. A reply email will have your credit info attached.

Class Materials

All materials are included in our 'Basics' classes.
Intermediate and advanced classes often require that you bring your own materials; please check the class description for a complete materials list.
