Weft Hat - 2 sessions

gather here Classes

This hat’s clever stitch pattern mimics woven basketry through the creative use of knits, purls, and yarn overs. This is one of those stitch patterns that gives dramatic results despite using only the most basic of knitting stitches! It’s a great project to build your skills by learning a provisional cast on and a turned hem - you'll love the double-ribbed brim's squishy comfort.

Limited to 5 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: adventurous beginner/intermediate - you've knit a scarf and a basic hat. You know your knits from your purls and can knit in the round.
  • We provide: space and expertise. We'll also have pompom makers on hand for session two should you be ready to finish this hat off with a pompom!
  • You bring: Yourself, a copy of the pattern, designed for Brooklyn Tweed DK weight yarns (Arbor and Dapple) 115 - 215 yards depending on size, 16” circular needles in US4 and 6 and stitch markers, you will also need DPN in US6 or alternatively you can use the magic loop method.
  • 2 1/2 hours each session for a total of 5 hours. You should knit between sessions!

Sessions run on Thursdays, March 7 and 21 at 6:30 PM.
