Machine Darning/Mending
Machine Darning/Mending
Utilizing the sewing machine and darning foot we'll learn to repair holes and tears so that they are sturdy and flexible. Perfect for quick fixes to extend the lifetime of your clothing and home goods. We'll prepare the hole/tear for repair, discuss best thread and stitch length, and then get to it!
Limited to 4 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Level: you have taken Sewing Basics and Sewing II. Quilting Basics is also a great class to have taken. You have holes in your clothes. (Please, this is a sewing machine workshop. You must know how to operate a sewing machine with skill.)
- We provide: practice fabric, tools, machines, and expertise.
- You bring: yourself, one garment for mending (if your garment has a large hole you will need backing fabric that is of similar weight. Please note: Denim should be patched with denim, wool with wool, linen with linen, etc), medium weight interfacing. If your garment is of an unusual color, please bring thread to match. Don't forget that we offer 15% off all supplies for any of our workshops.
- Class length: 2 hours
Note that masks are required on Mondays. You may be asked to mask on other days.
