2024 Shetland Wool Week KAL - 2 sessions

2024 Shetland Wool Week KAL - 2 sessions

Shetland Wool Week is a world renowned celebration of Britain’s most northerly native sheep, the Shetland textile industry and the rural farming community on these islands. This year the festival runs September 29 through October 5 and we thought casting on the 2024 Fair Isle hat would be a lovely way to celebrate. The official 2024 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern the ‘Islesburgh Toorie’ has been exclusively designed by Alison Doull and is merely a £1. (Shetland Wool Week is run by a small charity, the Shetland Amenity Trust, and like so many others are facing challenging and uncertain times. Any support – large or small – is gratefully received and will help them secure the future of an event which is so important to Shetland and its visitors. We ask that you consider making a voluntary donation in support of Shetland Amenity Trust's annual event.)

Anne Doull's hat is a distinctive design that highlight their family’s Flock Book roots and the location of their farm. "Anne’s hat features a distinctive Shetland Ram motif, a tribute to the family involvement with the Shetland Flock Book. The inclusion of the print of the wave lace pattern celebrates Margaret’s skillful knitted lace. (Anne's mam is Margaret, an awardwinning Shetland lace knitter. The colorways are inspired by the many natural shades of their Shetland flock and the heather filled hills and sunset views from the farm."
