In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $9,000 for Greater Boston non-profits in 2017. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can. We are proud to continue this effort in 2018.
Supporting non-profits that continue doing the essential work needed in our communities is important to gather here and we think it's important to the people that shop, take classes, and spend time here. This April 2018 our We Care Wednesday recipient is: Vinfen.
A Vinfen employee, Ann, reached out to us after learning about our "We Care Wednesday" initiative. She is an embroiderer and works in Vinfen's Communications and Development Office, right down the street from us. We loved learning about their mission directly from someone who works there. Vinfen transforms lives by building the capacity of individuals, families, organizations, and communities to learn, thrive, and achieve their goals. Our services and advocacy promote the recovery, resiliency, habilitation, and self-determination of the people we serve. As a human services leader, we strive to be the provider, employer, and partner of choice.
For 40 years Vinfen has been dedicated to transforming lives. We are a leading provider of community-based services to people with psychiatric conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges. Our dedicated staff uses the latest in science-based interventions to support the people we serve in achieving their goals and leading more independent, productive, and valued lives as members of their community.
