Supporting non-profits that continue doing the essential work needed in our communities is important to gather here and we think it's important to the people that shop, take classes, and spend time here. This July 2018 our We Care Wednesday recipient is: Fenway Health.
The mission of Fenway Health is to enhance the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and all people in our neighborhoods and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research and advocacy.
Like all Americans, we are deeply concerned about the future of health care in the United States. Fenway Health provides high quality, comprehensive and affirming care to the people living in their neighborhood. In 2017 there were 159,500 patient visits! Supporting Fenway Health is a way for us to support local, excellent healthcare.
Did you know that Fenway Health is reimbursed for only 63% of what it actually costs to provide care to their patients? The ability to help anyone who walks through their doors, regardless of their ability to pay, has been of critical importance to them ever since they were founded in 1971. It is something they need to continue, and with all of our support, Fenway Health can.
*In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $9,000 for Greater Boston non-profits in 2017. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can. We are proud to continue this effort in 2018.*
