Samples Worth Writing About: Landgate Jacket and Factotum Bag

Creating samples to inspire the various crafters and would-be crafters who visit us is one of the best parts of having a brick and mortar. We stock so many different patterns and we truly believe there is something for everyone to create. And something aspirational on the shelves, too. Like Merchant and Mills Landgate Jacket. This popover is made in Merchant and Mills Dry Oilskin and is not for the faint of heart. While not fitted, it does require a decent understanding of construction and the center front 1/4 zip gives even the most confident hobby stitcher pause. But we swear it's worth it! The insert helps protect the wearer from the wind and wet as well as the cold teeth of your zipper. The drawstring waist helps keep this versatile - wear it over multiples layers or keep things light.

We made the Landgate Jacket in a size Small (the original printing of the pattern referred to this as the size 36). Our jacket comfortably fits our size 38 chest dress form. The sleeve are long - something to consider when making it for yourself or someone you like a lot.
