Supporting non-profits that continue doing the essential work needed in our communities is important to gather here and we think it's important to the people that shop, take classes, and spend time here. This June 2018 our We Care Wednesday recipient is: Pride Youth Theater Alliance which is fiscally sponsored by the Theater Offensive. The Theatre Offensive's mission is to present the diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation, challenges the status quo, and builds thriving communities.
The 2018 Pride Youth Theater Alliance Conference is scheduled for July 26-29, 2018 and our Wednesday fundraising can help fund supplies, meals, and lodging for the conference. We love when people can come together to celebrate art and community. PLUS June is Pride Month! gather here supports the PYTA mission to offer queer and allied youth safe spaces to creatively express themselves while providing unique methods for representing and empowering queer voices in their community.
We love that the PYTA relies on youth voices to lead their mission. And through their youth advisory board, they create an environment that empowers people to become lifelong advocates.
*In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $9,000 for Greater Boston non-profits in 2017. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can. We are proud to continue this effort in 2018.*
