In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $800 for Food for Free. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can.
Since January we have donated thousands of dollars to non-profits that need everyone's support so they can continue doing the essential work needed in our communities. This April our We Care Wednesday recipient is: Girls Rock Campaign Boston. If you are a regular shopper or workshop attendee at gather here, you know that we LOVE music. Not just one genre but lots of different kinds of music. You can come in and be serenaded by Pink Martini one day and then hear New Wave hits the next all while planning your next "make". From GRCB, "Girls Rock Campaign Boston empowers girls to believe in themselves by providing a supportive community that foster self-expression, confidence and collaboration through music education and performance." Founded in 2010, GRCB has empowered over 600 girls through their programs. Through our fundraising efforts we hope to help a couple more girls attend a GRCB summer session.
