Last month our pal, Trish (host of BosFilipino's podcast) reached out to see if we might consider highlighting the work of a local nonprofit she has worked with. When we learned that the nonprofit's Executive Director, Nikki Shults, just happens to be a knitter, we were immediately interested. But even more importantly, at a time of historic isolation and division, Everyday Boston is working to make Boston the most connected city in America. A mission we can 100% get behind. Y'all know just how important we believe gathering is and Everyday Boston hosts pop-up conversation stations around the city to ease loneliness and build community between people who might not otherwise meet. They bring prompts and encourage folks to bring their stories. There are a number of conversation stations coming up in September:
-
- 9/6: Healing Arts Fair
10 - 12 pm; 44 Moultrie St, Dorchester - 9/14: Open Streets Dorchester
10:30 - 3 pm; Dorchester Ave, between Ashmont & Adams - 9/19: Ashmont Friday Market
2- 6 pm; Ashmont Station - 9/28: Health, Wellness and Healing Forum
10 - 3 pm; Reggie Lewis Center, 135 Tremont Street
- 9/6: Healing Arts Fair

Please take a minute to checkout opportunities to bring Everday Boston into your workplace or hire them to help you shape a storytelling project. There's an awesome page where folks shared a story about a person that made a difference in their life - "donate and celebrate" and what a fabulous way to give someone their flowers. (I hope they do this campaign again because I have so many people I want to celebrate.)
As always: donate directly! Attend a community event! (And tell your community about these events!) Learn more and perhaps you'll find yourself collecting stories.

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $96,647 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Abortion Access Front and Material Aid and Advocacy. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can
