Samples Worth Writing About: Kelly Anorak

Samples Worth Writing About: Kelly Anorak

Part 3 of our sample "collection" of Closet Core Patterns. This is the Kelly Anorak (view A - that's the view with a hood and cinched waist!). We made a Size 14 without adjustments.

The dress form is a size 16 with the following measurements:Bust = 41 1/4"Waist = 32"Hips = 42 1/4"

For the main fabric we used 3 yards of Dry Oilskin by Merchant and Mills and we lined it in 1 3/4 yards of Dobby Viscose by Atelier Brunette. All hardware is from the Kelly Anorak Hardware Kit - zipper, cording, snaps (which also has all the tools you need to install the hardware!).

The anorak is interfaced with Shir-Tailor fusible interfacing and for durability we used Gutermann recycled polyester thread. Things we love about this jacket: the hood is roomy so it really will protect you from the elements, the pockets are generous keeping your phone safe from the rain, and the drawstring waist provides shaping. The sleeves are roomy enough that a sweater still works as an underlayer and the hardware kit really works well with a variety of fabric colors.

We paired the Kelly Anorak with the Ebony Knit T-shirt (size 16) and a pair of Morgan Boyfriend Jeans (size 14).
