October 2025 We Care Wednesday

October 2025 We Care Wednesday

I cannot believe it's the final quarter of 2025 and we are kicking off October's We Care Wednesday! It's Vee behind these blog posts and I was able to attend a recent EMA (Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Access) Fund Community Call to hear about the work that has been done this year and what funding looks like in the future. I was blown away by the leadership and also shocked at how quickly the fund is depleted each week (all funding for the week is allocated by Monday!). And with funding being cut on the state and national level and access being denied all over the country, the EMA Fund is providing access to people nationwide.

I know there is so much work to be done on so many fronts. And I'm often reminding myself that it's easy to feel overwhelmed by ALL OF IT but the thing is, if we all do what we can - pick our "thing(s)" - then perhaps we delay our trip to hell in a hand basket for another day. So one of my "things" is abortion access and proudly standing up as a pro-abortion small business. The Community Call urged attendees to help EMA get 30 folks to either join as new sustainers or to increase their existing monthly donation to the EMA Fund by October 10th. gather here has joined the Sustainers Circle with a $150 monthly donation (and we're covering donation fees) and we hope you will, too. Any monthly donation is great - $25, $30, $50... whatever you can afford.

"EMA’s Sustainers Circle is responsible for covering our entire practical support budget for the year—meaning your dollars help cover wrap-around support like helping people travel to their appointments, fuel up with nourishing meals, cover the cost of child care, and travel long distances for abortion care in MA."

We hope you'll consider becoming a member of the Sustainers Circle. You'll be in excellent company. Can't afford a recurring donation? Would you mind sharing the EMA Fund goal with your own network? Looking for volunteer opportunities? Get involved!

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $96,647 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Abortion Access Front and Material Aid and Advocacy. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
