May 2025 We Care Wednesday

May 2025 We Care Wednesday

As they say, "it's gonna by May." And with May comes my annual fund-a-thon challenge to raise abortion funds for people seeking abortions that they want and need. This is my third year officially fundraising and not just donating to EMAF (Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund). And this year I've joined a team, "Knitters for Abortion Access". Let's pick up a project and knit together while we fund abortion. Would you like to support us? Join the team and start fundraising with us OR make a donation to help us reach our goal!!

Wondering why I do this each year? Well, at the most basic level, abortion IS healthcare. And as long as there are obstacles -- be they legislative, financial, political, etc -- I'll continue to do all I can, in all the ways I can to make it a little easier for everyone who wants and needs an abortion to have one. Every day someone shares their abortion story and unfortunately I don't think it moves the needle - if anything I worry that we traumatize these people by asking them to repeat this event, pushing them to justify their decision, to prove that they are worthy. I hate that. And gather here is a pro-abortion small business. Abortion is healthcare and we'll continue sharing that stance every damn day.

As always: donate directly to EMAF!

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $96,647 to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the Mayor's Disaster Fund to BAGLY to Abortion Access Front and Material Aid and Advocacy. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
