As 2016 came to an end, we asked ourselves how we could continue to serve our community. gather here has always been more than a boutique fiber shop and as small business owners, we are aware of how local spending can enrich the neighborhood. Over the years, we have met some of the kindest and most generous people in workshops and just hanging out at the front counter. We know investing in the community is important to all of you, too. Inspired by Hillary Rodham Clinton, "let us have faith in each other, let us not grow weary, let us not lose heart, for there are more seasons to come. And there is more work to do." we are committed to not losing heart and doing the work.
In 2017 we are introducing "we care wednesday" to help non-profits that provide for those among us that are most in need. Each month we'll announce a non-profit that we will make a weekly donation to. We hope you'll consider donating to these non-profits on your own but also, if you already are planning on stopping into the shop to pick up fabric or yarn, know your Wednesday purchase is helping others. In January we have chosen the local non-profit, Food for Free, as the recipient of our "we care wednesday" donation.
Thank you for all of your support in 2016. And for lifting our spirits when we needed it. Together we can make a huge difference and ultimately, be the change we wish to see in this world.
