Thanks to a generous grant from the City of Cambridge Community Development Department we are able to offer craftivity programming in Inman Square this summer. Our first event is on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5-8 PM in Vellucci Plaza. Bring your craft if you already have something you are working on. OR pick up a hook/needle and join us in creating 10"x10" squares and other tactile fiber pieces for a Yarn Storm to benefit the Perkins School of the Blind's 2024 participation in a global movement to build awareness about deafblindness. The goal is to increase awareness and knowledge of deafblindness as a unique disability and influence for appropriate services for people who are deafblind around the world.
We will have plenty of yarn, hooks, needles, pompom/tassel-makers, and support for all who drop by. We are also creating items like pompoms, tassels, plushies, fiber ornaments, long chain stitching, and other pieces of fiber art! Tactile elements are encouraged so Perkins students can interact more fully with the installations. Can't finish in one evening? Don't worry! gather here will be collecting squares through June 27, 2024.
