January 2026 We Care Wednesday

January 2026 We Care Wednesday

Happy New Year, same gather here! First things first, we donated over $13K in 2025. We are calculating supply and clothing, toiletry, crafty supply donations to finalize the total but wow, we saw a 10% increase in Wednesday sales to make 2025 the best We Care Wednesday year to date. Thank YOU for your commitment to supporting nonprofits and mutual aid initiatives doing essential work in our community.

To kick off 2026 we're featuring local volunteer run organization, Many Helping Hands 365. We currently have a clothing drive collection bin in the shop! We are collecting winter items such as gently used/new coats, boots, new socks (preference for wool or woolblend as they are insulating and do not hold water like cotton or synthetic fibers), new underwear, and gloves. Looking for ways to volunteer on MLK Day? Register for the 16th Annual Day of Service and Learning. Come lend your helping hands and honor Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. by showing up to answer his question: ‘What are you doing for others?” Hands-On Service Projects are scheduled from 2:30-5:00 PM: make blankets and scarves, make Valentines for isolated elders, veterans, and unhoused adults, sort winter clothing and books for local shelters.

Please consider volunteering! Giving! Lead a book drive! A clothing drive! A good drive! Learn more here.

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $110K to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the very local programs like Material Aid and Advocacy Program and EMA Fund to national programs like Habitat for Humanity. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
