February 2026 We Care Wednesday

Like many of you, we have been doing our best not to feel helpless in the face of all the news. ALL THE NEWS. Grateful to all the folks showing up to protest ICE, taking care of their neighbors, and supporting community organizers. We launched the We Care Wednesday initiative in 2017, a response to the first Trump presidency. We wanted to support non-profits and mutual aid funds that were essential to the community. With each attack, institution destroyed, and right revoked we shared organizations that could help temper the after effects. While raising funds we encouraged each one of you to give what you could - donating directly and sharing volunteer opportunities. We are now asking you to donate to LUCE, a coalition of immigrant-led, grassroots organizations who build people power for everyone across Massachusetts.

LUCE currently is looking for volunteers who speak Vietnamese, Cantonese, Nepali, Bengali, Khmer, and Cape Verdean Kriolu to operate the hotline. Sign up for a Community Watch Training and become a verifier (people who respond to hotline alerts by going into their community to verify rumors about ICE's presence in our communities, to connect neighbors to local resources, and build community).

*Since launching the We Care Wednesday initiative in January 2017 we have donated over $110K to a variety of nonprofits and mutual aid funds doing essential work in our community as well as other places. From the very local programs like Material Aid and Advocacy Program and EMA Fund to national programs like Habitat for Humanity. We select organizations that we feel represent not only our commitment to a better, more equitable world but also our desire to "do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
