2019 August We Care Wednesday: Everytown for Gun Safety

UPDATE: We raised $445 for Evertytown for Gun Safety in August! Want to help? Donate directly!

We had a different nonprofit in mind for August 2019 but with the horrific domestic terrorist attacks in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio (by the time we publish this post who knows which city will be mourning a mass shooting) we decided that fundraising for Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence was imperative. “Nearly 6 million mayors, moms, cops, teachers, survivors, gun owners, students and everyday Americans have come together to make their own communities safer. Together, we are fighting for the changes that we know will save lives.”

Ending gun violence isn’t going to happen overnight but with our collective voices and actions (donations, demonstrations, and organizing) we CAN make a difference. In the words of civil rights activist and Congressman John Lewis, “Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”

*In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $9,000 for Greater Boston non-profits in 2017. In 2018 we raised $11,000 for Greater Boston non-profits. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can. We are proud to continue this initiative in 2019.*
