2019 June We Care Wednesday: Youth on Fire

2019 June We Care Wednesday: Youth on Fire

In honor of Pride Month we have selected Youth on Fire as the recipient of June’s We Care Wednesday initiative. Youth on Fire (YOF), a program of AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, is a drop-in center for homeless and street-involved youth, ages 14-24, located in Harvard Square, Cambridge. Over 3,000 youth have benefited from YOF since the program opened its doors in the Spring of 2000.

Youth On Fire strives to help as many youth as possible have healthy lifestyles, stay HIV, STI, and HCV-negative, and seek greater stability through supports, services, and opportunities for leadership and development. Currently, Youth on Fire is seeking donations to help support many of its free services. In the last two years, the number of clients served has doubled, while funding has decreased. We are proud to help through our Wednesday fundraising initiative but hope that you’ll also consider making a direct donation to YOF.

*In January 2017 we launched our We Care Wednesday initiative. By donating 5% of our sales each Wednesday, we were able to raise $9,000 for Greater Boston non-profits in 2017. In 2018 we raised $11,000 for Greater Boston non-profits. This kind of targeted weekly giving is just another way we can focus our community-based business on doing good in all the ways we can. We are proud to continue this initiative in 2019.*
