"What is barkcloth?" you ask! That's a good question.  Barkcloth is a soft, thick, lightly textured fabric, that has a slightly rough surface like tree bark. Modern barkcloth is usually made of cotton.  Barkcloth is durable enough for home goods like curtains, drapery, and upholstery while also being soft enough to work well as clothing.
