Peerie brings an exciting new range of possibilities to Brooklyn Tweed’s breed-specific core yarn line. They're first worsted-spun, fingering-weight yarn begins with Merino sheep from the western ranges of the United States. Merino sheep are known for their fine and dense fleeces; in fact, Peerie is their softest yarn yet at 20.5 microns.

About the Yarn  >

Worsted-spun in Springvale, Maine at Jagger Brothers, Peerie is smooth, strong, and full of lively bounce. Its 4-ply construction enhances luster and lends a polished hand to cabled or textured fabrics. Peerie also beckons to be worked into open lace motifs or snug stockinette for equally beautiful fabrics destined for daily use or heirloom pieces.

Dyed in Saco, Maine at Maine Dye & Textiles, Peerie’s expansive color palette makes it the perfect colorwork companion. With a range of jewel tones, soft pastels, and warm neutrals, Peerie has a colorway for everyone to enjoy.

Please note that the color settings on your monitor may not display yarn colors accurately. Shade cards are available for purchase, directly from Brooklyn Tweed, with free shipping within the USA.

About Merino Wool >

The merino wool we source averages 20.5 microns — within the typical finewool range, and retaining the Merino-specific quirks of supreme density, high tensile strength, high crimp, and delightful springiness. Worsted-spun into a smooth, Peerie hits the sweet spot of being both next-to-skin soft and durable (not prone to pilling).

Wet Blocking  >

Fill a sink or basin with cold water and submerge the fabric in water, gently squeezing out any air bubbles so that the piece can remain underwater without being held there. Soak work for several minutes, allowing fabric to become completely saturated. Remove excess moisture by rolling your fabric between clean, dry towels with light pressure. Lay fabric flat and shape to air dry.

We recommend alternating skeins while knitting to distribute the color evenly.

Care: Hand wash, lay flat to dry.
